Ubisoft President Believes Game Delays Ensure Better End Product

It was published some weeks ago now that both Watch Dogs and The Crew, major next generation titles are to be delayed. Examiner.com have had an interview with Ubisoft’s North American President Laurent Detoc who has recently commented on this need to delay the release of these titles.

“There are definitely times when we have to make tough decisions, such as moving a launch date, as it initially upsets some in our community but ultimately will ensure we launch a better game.” He continues, “A great game, such as Far Cry 3 last year or Rayman Legends this year, has to have the time and resources to make sure it’s done right. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and see this next-generation transition as another opportunity to grow, gain market share and create amazing experiences for our fans.”

For Detoc it seems that slow and steady, well designed titles will win out in the end over rushed to development titles.

“We believe that ultimately, it’s our fans that help influence our franchises, our business and our success. If we create compelling experiences, listen to our fans and make smart business decisions with them in mind, we will win the race,” Detoc said.

I believe this is indeed a fair view, with the price of titles, especially for next-gen constantly on the up, many should be aware of the limitations of rushing out a product to market. What do you think of the delay to Watch Dogs and The Crew? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
