Learning the basics of a combat system is critical to any RPG, let alone a turn based RPG. Make it too easy, people get bored. Make it too complicated, not many people will bother to learn it. So far it appears Stoic has struck a nice balance, easy to learn and hard to master. The proof is in the play however, and it isn’t long now until The Banner Saga: Chapter 1 becomes available. Out January 14, next year should be rife with crowdfunded titles coming to fruition. Hopefully The Banner Saga will be the first in a long line of fun experiences coming from smaller teams.
