As of yesterday it has been confirmed that Narcissu, a free indie visual novel, created by stage-nana, the pen name of Tomo Katoka has been green-lit for release on Steam. Narcissu plays similarly to the Ace Attorney franchise and tells the tale of two terminally ill hospital patients who conclude that they do not want to die within the walls of the hospital. By stealing the protagonist’s car, they head off on one last roadtrip together. 

Not only does this short tale sound like it will pull and rip apart the heart strings it is also a telling sign of the growth of the visual novel market. Steam already supports titles such as When They Cry, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and Narcissu is now the next to join the group.
