Persona 3 and Persona 4 Crossover in Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Explained

Announced at the Atlus Persona stream, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is a crossover between Persona 3 and Persona 4. Fans were initially confused due to dead characters reappearing. Thankfully, Gamer.ne.jp have shared what is going on.

It turns out that the game is set in a parallel universe, where both the Persona 3 and Persona 4 characters meet. The game is set in an alternate version of Yasogami high, and centers around the two new characters Rei and Zen. The two characters are suffering from amnesia, and it seems this is directly tied to the strange events that brought the two teams to them. A mysterious clock tower has also appeared, sparking the curiosity of all involved.

Players will be able to choose between the Persona 3 or 4 protagonist, and the story will play out different depending on that choice. Invariably however, the two shadow killing squads will team up to figure out what is going on.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is out in Japan July 4, 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS, with plenty more reveals probably on the way between now and then. Hopefully one of them will be news of a western release.
