A Hacker Says He’s Jailbroken The PS4

A hacker named “Reckz0r” has posted a Pastebin that apparently gives download links and instructions on how to jailbreak Sony’s “OrbisOS” operating system, which of course powers the PlayStation 4, according to a report by Graham Cluley Security News.

Needless to say, hacking the console is a legal minefield, as this would allow players to pirate video games, which is obviously a major issue.

As a result of this Pastebin, which currently has over 45,000 hits, Reckz0r has posted what he claims is a Twitter conversation between himself and Sony (we have edited the image so as not to show offensive language):

Sony has dealt with hackers before, in the George “GeoHot” Hotz lawsuit in 2011, and the infamous PSN hack that followed shortly after. Perhaps Sony will be better prepared for events such as this after its experiences with hackers. The Pastebin Reckz0r posted still remains live as of writing.

What do you think? Is Sony likely to have a piracy issue on its hands? Or will the hackers be shut down? Let us know in the comments below.
