Steam users can now review, rate and recommend the titles that they have played through the Steam Community. Steam Reviews has been launched in beta today and lets the community create the reviews or rate other users reviews.
The reviews will be displayed alongside Metacritic scores, which Steam currently links to on its titles, but are looking at creating their own scoring system based on Steam Reviews.
“Many products on Steam change significantly over time as the game or software is updated and new content is added,” States an FAQ on Steam Reviews, “In order to form a score that accurately reflects the current state of a product, we first need to gather and evaluate the data from reviews.”
Users will be able to flag up abusive reviews and developers can then respond and flag the reviews themselves.
Steam users have submitted 7 million Recommendations, Valve says, with can now be made visible as “an evolution of the Recommendation system that has been a part of Steam since 2010.”
Will you be using it to choose the titles you play? And will you submit? Let us know in the comments.
