Hauppauge have launched their new HD PVR Rocket, a portable video game recorder for Xbox, PlayStation and PC. The PVR Rocket records gameplay from these consoles in high definition, with up to 1080p resolution made possible whilst also functioning separately from a PC, instead being powered by USB to the console or PC in question.
The device can instantly record onto any sized USB flash drive or external HDD over HDMI or component in H.264. Its main advantage is that it is incredibly small allowing it to be an easy to use and simple to relocate portable video recorder. The PVR Rocket also has a built in audio mixer for both recording game commentary and game audio by plugging in a microphone, headset or mp3 player. Formatting can be done via Hauppauge’s own Windows application known as Hauppauge Capture which allows any video to be uploaded to a users YouTube channel. This is also compatible with a Mac in iMovie.
Any game system which uses the HDMI video without HDCP or uses component video can be recorded with HD PVR Rocket, this includes the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Wii I and PC gaming rigs. The HD PVR Rocket is available in the UK at Maplin stores or online at a price of: £139.99
