EA will Continue to Make Games on Current Gen

With the next generation of gaming occupying most gamers’ minds, EA have stated that they will not be abandoning current gen systems.

Speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference this week, EA explained the difficulties faced with developing for two generations of gaming simultaneously. EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen said:

“Doing a new generation set of titles is always going to be a challenge, but we’re also trying to produce [current-generation] titles and we’ll be producing [current-generation] titles for many years to come,”

With 80 million Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles having been purchased, and 100 million Wii’s, it is expected that the systems will keep selling.

“We think that the consumer will continue to buy [current-generation consoles] “We don’t know what the prices for [current-generation] boxes will be after the new console rollout, but I’m assuming that they’ll start to come down over time and that may be bring new people into the market.” Jorgensen said.
