Previous vapor-ware mod Black Mesa will be coming to Steam shortly according to the team responsible it. Black Mesa Modification Team, as they are creatively known, will making it available for “a relatively low price“.

The team announced this on their Steam community page to celebrate the 15 year anniversary since the release of Half-Life. But what is funny is that the mod isn’t even finished yet, with the Xen portions of the game yet to be completed.

While this incomplete chunk of the game is only the last fifth or so of the game, many players are excited to see the alien world with improved fidelity. This excitement was shown in how rapidly the project passed through Steam Greenlight. No ETA on when this part will be finished, but they did state “Xen is still a ways off“. This is a mod afterall, and they aren’t being paid to do this work.
