In a blog post by Level Designer Daniel Windfeld Schmidt, who is working at the Eidos Montreal site on the latest Thief title has announced that due to fan feedback, Quick Time Events, or QTE’s will not be featuring in this renovation of the series.
“We’re not implementing [QTE]. To begin with, there were few instances of QTEs in the game; in fact there was only one in that whole hour-long E3 demo. However, given the strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community, it was an easy decision to do away with them entirely. So we’re not doing it. No quick time.”
This seems to be a positive step forward for the community, which has, from the outset, voiced several concerns over the construction of the new Thief title. The simplicity of a QTE seems to go against the stealth nature of Thief.
Thief is expected to launch February 2014 on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Xbox One and PS4. Do you think more alterations are to follow? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
