A day-one patch will be issued for Call of Duty: Ghosts on PS4 which changes the resolution in the single player campaign from 720p to the much vaunted 1080p.
Players who play without the patch will experience the single player game at a resolution of 720p. This of course contradicts the information put out during last week’s “resolutiongate” stories, where the PS4 vs Xbox One debate centered on the PS4’s 1080p native output for Call of Duty: Ghosts. Even without the patch, Infinity Ward’s latest shooter runs at 1080p on PS4 during multiplier.
The 1080p functionality comes with a day one patch that PS4 users can download for Call of Duty: Ghosts. This would achieve the state of things that was rumoured for so long and eventually confirmed: that Call of Duty: Ghosts is 1080p on PS4 and 720p On Xbox One.
Speaking to Eurogamer, an Activision rep said:
“There was a configuration issue in the retail version on single-player mode only. This has been addressed with a day one software update. People will be able to download the day one update when PlayStation 4 launches in their territory and play at native 1080p.”
What do you think? Should the fact that the PS4 version’s single player is only 1080p via a patch have been divulged from the start? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
