Yoshinori Ono, producer of Street Fighter 4 and credited with bringing fighting games back into the mainstream fold as a result, mentioned during Capcom’s live stream of its Capcom Cup Asia event that a new announcement will be made regarding its latest game.

Ultra Street Fighter 4 was announced at the Evolution fighting game championships earlier this year, and is the latest iteration in Capcom’s Street Fighter 4 series. Featuring new mechanics and characters, the game is set for a 2014 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Capcom has so far revealed 4 new characters for the game, and is teasing a 5th, though the identity of the final character remains a mystery.

Ono didn’t elaborate any more on the news, which unfortunately makes this an announcement of an announcement, but speculation is rife as to what it could be. Perhaps Capcom is ready to reveal the final character or a new mechanic in USF4, but we’ll have to wait and see.
