Pre-Launch Interest In Sony PS4 2x Higher Than Xbox One

Before we know it the next gen war will be on and everyone will most likely be taking sides. However, research suggests that the PlayStation 4 has a rather large lead over the Xbox One with more than double the gamers favoring Sony’s console over Microsoft’s alternative.

These findings come from Digital Intelligence firm Compete whose report notes that online shoppers are far more interested in purchasing the PS4. 3/4 of all online console shoppers are interested in the PS4, with 61% looking to buy it as their exclusive console. This contrasts to the 39% of shoppers who have shown interest in the Xbox One, with just 27% looking to buy the console exclusively.

Many factors probably contribute to this swing, such as the cheaper PS4 price tag and the early blunders of Microsoft. Perhaps of more concern is that only 12% of consumers considering both platforms there is a distinct lack of interest from the casual market. Hopefully the market campaigns which are already underway for both consoles will alter this. Predictions continue to be that the PS4 will outsell the Xbox One this Christmas.
