GTA 5 Game Robberies Viewed as Mega Exploit

Grand Theft Auto Online  has once again come up against a huge issue, this time it is the leaking of billions of dollars to unsuspecting players. The exploit is far larger than what Rockstar have provided in stimulus before hand and whilst technical, it also relies on social interaction to work.

The exploit uses modded .rpg files. Editing these files is very simple to do for hackers as they can be edited simply in notepad. Jailbroken PS3’s are also used as they can interact with nonmodded units due to the data transfer utility. The exploit was finally realized when the way the game counts numbers was leaked to the public. So how do these issues come together? Well, a players goes on a jailbroken PS3, which has received several patches. The liquor store robbery missions are played repetitively and, due to the modding they receive maximum pay out each time which is $973 million. After a player can, “share cash from last job” which is leading to players gaining billions of in-game currency from complete strangers.

Whilst some have reported this bug to Rockstar as they do not want to be seen as hackers themselves many others are simply spending this random cash, leading to huge imbalances.  Whilst it is inevitable that Rockstar will be working on the bug, it is unknown as to when a patch will be issued. What do you make of this rather unique exploit? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
