According to data released by the NPD group, 50% more console gamers use the Xbox Live service than its competitor, Sony’s Playstation Network.
The data comes from the 2013 Online Gaming Report, which was conducted by the NPD Group. The NPD Group track all sorts of figures, from sales to online usage, but it must be noted that this data does not take into account any usage outside of North America. Microsoft was keen to highlight these figures, as it sends a message of continued success compared to the PSN.
Microsoft’s “Week of Xbox Live” began today with this announcement. As the week goes on, we can expect to see more from the Xbox -maker and its plans for Xbox Live, which should be especially interesting considering the impending release of its next machine, the Xbox One.
What do you think? Is Microsoft just bragging, or has Xbox Live genuinely been the winner of the online system race this generation? Let us know in the comments below.
