Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Not to be on Next Generation Hardware

 It has been revealed in an interview with GamingBolt that Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 2 will be on current consoles only instead of being released also on next gen consoles. Producer David Cox explained this choice in release;

“The story started on the current generation of hardware, and it is only right that it concludes on it. We knew from the outset where we would take the sequel, and didn’t want to just keep churning out new versions.”

Cox has also confirmed that the sequel has been designed to reward players who take time to learn the combat system over simply, hacking and button mashing their way to glory. “There is still furious combat, but where’s the fun and skill in just slashing repeatedly to progress?” A focus bar meter has been implemented, which fills up as you assault opponents without taking hits yourself. By doing so, the player can unleash powerful magic and supernatural combos. “players cannot use their magical abilities unless they are focused. This means if you play with skill, you have more tools at your disposal during combat to deal with enemies, however if you spam the buttons or don’t play well or with skill, you will find the game very difficult.”

Cox moved on to note that whilst the new title shall be similar in length to the original Lord of Shadow it will feel far more diverse and large due to a more open environment and new locations. “Its city is a more open experience that we want people to immerse themselves in. Everything about the game is bigger, but it has to be – we have a big story to tell.”

Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 2 will be released February 2014. Are you excited for the new Castlevania title? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
