Kickstarter For The iMotion Goes Live

The Kickstarter for Intellect Motion’s iMotion controller has now gone live.

The iMotion is a small device that attaches to the user’s hand, wrist, or even waist, and when coupled with a webcam can be used to control existing games on the PC with hand motions. Motion control is nothing new, but what’s cool about this device is that several of them can be used in tandem with one another – and even the Oculus Rift. The device also boasts haptic feedback, which allows for a more tactile experience.

In a Oculus-powered VR game, the device in your hand could represent something else entirely to your eyes while wearing the device. It can even attach to player’s waists, and sync with the Oculus Rift to give the illusion of in-game movement when the player walks forward.

Intellect Motion are looking for $100,000, and at the time of writing have met just under half of that goal, reaching $41,051 with 24 days to go. For more information including the pledge video, you can visit the company’s Kickstarter page.

It’ll be interesting to see how this device takes off, and how developers use the technology in interesting ways to create new gameplay.

What do you think? Are you interested in the device?
