Eidos-Montreal surprised a lot of people with the quality of 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. They continued to show their love for the original series with the well received Deus Ex: The Fall earlier this year. Today Eidos-Montreal announced the next step for the franchise, Deus Ex: Universe.
Announced on their official website by studio head David Anfossi, Deus Ex: Universe aims to “create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games.” While this at first glance sounds like an MMO, Anfossi goes on to explain it is a “deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games“. They are planned to be more regular than this generation, stating they plan to “deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis“.
Eidos-Montreal seems prepared to bring the series more into the forefront of gaming, making it much prominent through regular releases across multiple platforms. Deus Ex: Universe will include “PC and console games“, as well as “tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc…“. The final part of the announcement confirmed “that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles”. Don’t expect any news anytime soon though as the game is being made with next-gen in mind.
