Day One Update For Xbox One Will Take 15-20 Minutes

The way that Xbox One will work as a console has changed a lot since its original announcement, as such Microsoft made consumers aware that a day one update would be necessary. This update will be sizable and new information from Microsoft states that it could take 15-20 minutes to download and install.

“We are optimising Xbox One so that the day one update is as fast as possible,” Xbox One chief platform architect Marc Whitten told IGN. “While we’re still finalising the details, we expect that the download will take between 15 and 20 minutes for most users.”

Whitten then went on to explain that developers are being given the ability to make title updates optional on Xbox One.

“Content providers will have the ability to push two types of content updates with Xbox One: ones that are immediately mandatory like in Xbox 360 and ones that are optional,” he added. “If you opt to not take an optional update, you can continue to play online and do the update at a later time.”

Whilst it isn’t possible to log into multiple Xbox 360 consoles simultaneously, nor will it be on Xbox One, Whitten did go on to mention that it will be possible to be signed onto an Xbox 360 and Xbox One console simultaneously on the same gamertag.
