Precursor Games have sadly announced that development on Shadow Of The Eternals has been put on indefinite hiatus. This is primarily down to all of the developers making the game out of their own pocket, after numerous failed crowdfunding attempts.
Part sequel, part spiritual successor to the 2002 horror game Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, Shadow of The Eternals began crowdfunding May 3 of this year. After two unsuccessful attempts at crowdfunding, as well as one of the devs being accused of pedophilia, all went dark as Precursor still worked away on the game.
On the Precursor Games forum, Chief Creative Officers Denis Dyack , announced the games new status as being on hold for the foreseeable future. To reassure fans he stated “Is the project dead? No, but we feel it needs a rest too“, but went on to say “We have all agreed as a group that when and if the time is right we will get together and start it up again“.
It is understandable that the team has pushed this project to the back for the moment, making money and other worries must come first. Let us hope that the team come back to the game at some point in the future during a better time.
