Chinese authorities have confirmed that they are planning to lift a longstanding ban in the country which prevents the manufacturing and sale of video games consoles. According to the Wall Street Journal the State Council, who are the highest decision-making body in the country, said today that foreign game companies operating manufacturing within a new Shanghai trade zone will be able to sell their products across the country. Each device that wishes to be sold will still need to be approved by the Ministry of Culture.
A timeline for lifting the ban was not given, but the Chinese Government plans to implement its new regulations to the Shanghai trading zone in the next three years.
