A YouGov Poll has unveiled the thoughts of a majority of Britons polled that video games are a catalyst for real-world violence. The organisers of the poll asked a number of members of the British public whether they agreed or disagreed with a number of statements. When asked if the agreed with ‘video games can be a cause of real-world violence and aggression’ 61% said yes. 57% of those polled also believe that violent video games can be a ‘useful outlet for frustrations and aggression’. Rather unsurprisingly the number of people who believed in the link increased with the age of the person polled. Many of those who believed in the link also claimed to have had no experience with violent video games either.
