People predicted Grand Theft Auto V would sell well, and it has. With an amazing $800,000,000 worth of sales on the games first day, Take-Two have announced that they have reached the $1 billion milestone in just three days. This smashes the previous prediction that this would happen after the first month.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated “We believe this marks the fastest that any entertainment property, including video games and feature films, has reached this significant milestone“. That may very well be true, and if so it is a good reminder that games have become games are now the largest entertainment industry on the planet. Making more per year than the film and music industry, it is becoming harder to deny the selling power of titles like GTA, Halo and Call of Duty.
