PS4 and PS Vita Goal Added for ‘River City Ransom’ Kickstarter

In a recent update for “River City Ransom: Underground” kickstarter project, which hopes to be a successful sequel to the 1990 original NES classic for the PC it has been announced that it may see a PS4 and PS Vita port if a $280,000 target is reached.

Originally aiming for a goal of $180,00 for the project Conatus Creative, who now hold the license for the River City Ransom series explain their logic in attempting to gain a PlayStation stretch target.

“Announcing a stretch goal is making a commitment to backers to fulfill a promise, and we took our time to make sure the goal we set was neither arbitrarily high, nor low enough to jeopardize our commitments. After lengthy discussions with our licensors, industry colleagues, and each other, we are able to define our first stretch goal. If we can reach $280K during this campaign, we can begin to develop a port of River City Ransom: Underground for PS4 and the PS Vita. We can’t commit to a release date at this time, though we will strive for the earliest release possible, and keep everyone informed on our progress.”

Due to Sony’s powerful support for independent titles the PS4 and PS Vita were clear aims for River City Ransom to reach. If the title is successful, Conatus Creative have not ruled out later ports to the Wii U or Xbox One.  The fundraiser still has 23 more days left, although the current kickstarter budget holds at just over $63,000.
