Battlefield 4 Next-Gen Upgrade Prices Revealed

Via its official blog, DICE has unveiled the plans for its upgrade path from the PS3/Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 4 to the PS4/Xbox One version.  The exact details differ slightly depending on region and console, and whether or not you want a physical or digital copy of the game, but a ballpark summary would be that you can upgrade for $10 or £10 in most cases.

The current-gen version of Battlefield 4 launches on October 29th for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The next-gen versions will be available as launch titles for both PS4 and Xbox One on their respective launch dates.

Inside marked copies of Battlefield 4 for PS3, players will find a voucher with a one-time-use code which will allow for a download of the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 for $9.99/£9.99/€9.99. Interestingly the code will expire on March 28th, 2014.

However, if you prefer to deal in physical copies of games, then GAME in the UK have announced that they will be giving those who trade in current gen BF4 £40 in credit to buy the next-gen BF4 – on either Xbox One or PS4. Needless to say this should only apply within the same console family – i.e. you can only get the credit for the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 if you traded in the PS3 version. This offer runs out on December 24th, 2013.

EA has delivered an exhaustive breakdown of a ton of options for different retailers and regions concerning the upgrade, which can be seen at the official Battlefield 4 blog.
