Sony Announces PS Vita TV

During Sony’s Pre-Tokyo Game Show Conference, they unveiled a new device which will plug into your TV. The PlayStation Vita TV will allow users to play PS Vita titles on your TV by placing the game cards into the slot on the device. The device also allows users to play their PSP and older PlayStation titles on the system. Alongside the gaming software, the Vita TV also offers movies and eBooks to be viewed, whilst also playing PS4 titles through Remote Play.

The microconsole is a tiny 6cm x 10cm in size and works with the DualShock 3 controller. Vita TV will launch on November 14th in Japan with 2 bundles available for purchase. The standalone bundle which contains just the Vita TV will be priced at 9,480 Yen (£61/$95). The device will also come bundled with a DualShock 3 controller and 8GB memory card for the higher price of 14,980 Yen (approximately $150/£96).

Sony have confirmed that a global release will be in the microconsole’s future but did not provide a date.
