New Model PlayStation Vita Revealed

A new model of PS Vita has been unveiled at Sony’s Pre-TGS conference. The new model features all the same functionality as it’s predecessor and is 20% thinner and lighter than the original Vita handheld. The new Vita will come in six different designs, these being; Black, White, Lime Green/White, Light Blue/White, Pink/Black and Khaki/Black.

The new Vita has a 5″ LCD display rather than the originals OLED screen and comes with 1GB built-in memory. Sony also claim to have boosted the battery life of the handheld up an hour, offering six hours of gameplay and seven hours of video playback.

The new model PS Vita will launch in Japan on October 10th at a price point of 18,980 Yen (£122/$190). Alongside this Sony have announced a new 64GB memory card for PS Vita which will launch at the same time for 9,980 Yen (£64/$100).

Sony Computer Entertainment said in a statement:

“PCH-2000 series has been developed to be more casual and friendly for a wider range of users… In addition, a high-definition liquid crystal display (LCD) has been newly adopted for the 5-inch front display which is one of the PS Vita’s greatest features.

“Thanks to the rapid progress of LCD technology in recent years, the new display provides users with the highest-level image quality, perfect for deep and immersive gaming experience that is at the core of PS Vita.”
