New Assassin’s Creed IV Developer Diary “A Diverse Open World” Released

The second in Ubisoft’s Developer Diary series, The Black Flag Diaries, the new video from Ubisoft shows off some of the vast world in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. The developers have gone out of their way to create a diverse world for Assassin’s Creed IV, with many different environments and ways to play within them. With cities that are very obviously different in architectures and landscapes. The diary also briefly shows the Frontations which have been added to Black Flag, small missions that allow the player to use stealth or combat to solve them, allowing players to play how they want.

Also spoken about is how ship combat works, explaining that by accomplishing certain tasks you can commandeer ships and either keep them for your own or take anything of value and sink it yourself. Diving was explained to mainly be focused around areas with sunken ships also, clearly showing Ubisoft’s intent to replicate a Pirate experience in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

“Pirates were some of the first people in the 18th Century to throw off the influence of kings and monarchs and live according to their own set of laws. In Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag we’ve worked really hard to bring you that pirate lifestyle.” Says Script Writer Darby McDevitt.
