Sony Are Reaching Out To Third Parties & Gamers

Randy Pitchford, developer at Gearbox Software, was a little bit sceptical about having Borderlands 2 on the PS Vita. He admitted that the dev team would not be able to do it on their own and that the idea of having this game on a hand held console was more than wishful thinking. However, Sony came to save the day as they offered to assist Gearbox with a Borderlands 2 Vita release by being the official publisher.

Gio Corsi, Director of Third Party Productions at Sony, had this to say about third party relations:

“The Third Party Relations team at PlayStation is well-known for developing solid relationships across this industry, and this new group will work closely with our publishing partners to bring their beloved IPs to new places… We already have a project underway, the recently announced PS Vita version of Borderlands 2.”

It is great to see that Sony want to do more with their relations, but Corsi is also hinting towards more as he states:

“I will share more with you as our adventures continue and new games are made available, In the meantime, let me know in the [PS Blog] comments what you want to see on PlayStation (PS3, PS4, PS Vita). Or contact me on Twitter through the ingenious and mesmerizing handle of @giocorsi”.

With this looking like a way to reach out to the gaming community to see what they would want to see, Sony could bring a lot of new potential to their systems as of the arrival of the PS4. Imagine some of the possibilities: Call of Duty Ghosts on Vita, Watch Dogs on Vita and even the great line of Indie games coming to Vita as well as PS4.
