Plants Vs Zombies 2 Surpasses Number of Downloads of Predecessor

News from casual games developers PopCap reveals that Plants Vs Zombies 2 has been downloaded more times than it’s predecessor in just 2 weeks since launch. The free-to-play title was first released on August 15th and has already received 25 million downloads to beat it’s predecessor’s lifetime number of download. This astounding achievement will have been aided in part by the sequels adoption of the free-to-play microtransaction model as opposed to the paid app model of the original. With PopCap promising to release more content for Plants Vs Zombies 2 as time goes by, the number of downloads looks like it will be rising much higher from here.
