American McGee Launches Episodic Game Grimm on Steam Greenlight

American McGee’s Grimm takes the classic fairytales from the Brothers Grimm, stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Tom Thumb and Hansel and Gretel, and makes them into standalone adventures based on a different fairytale.

The tales of the Brothers Grimm were originally intended as cautionary tales for children, although people such as Disney have taken the stories and made them much more colourful and child-friendly over the years, something American attempts to fix with these dark iterations.

Originally released as 23 episodes through GameTap between July 2008 and April 2009, each episode lasts for about 30 minutes and follows a different fairytale each time.

Asked on the Steam forums if all 23 episodes would released at the same time as one game on Steam, Spicy Horse has stated that they are yet to determine a release schedule or a price.

“Each chapter is quite large — multi-hundred megabytes each,” reads the response,“So if we offer them as a single pack, you’re looking at a massive single download. Might be better to split them up and keep the price per episode low.”
