Earlier this month, FFDream met up with Yoshinori Kitase and Motomu Toriyama to talk about the upcoming HD remake of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD. One of the questions they asked reignited Final Fantasy VII fan’s hopes:
Q: After working on a Compilation of FFX HD, do you think you will keep on following this path and work on a Compilation of FFVII HD, including for example Dirge of Cerberus (HD Remaster) and Crisis Core (HD Remaster)?
Kitase : We are aware that there is a max expectation from our fans for a FFVII remake and we know that. At the moment there is no plan. But if we did want to do that, we have to sit down and think carefully what would be the best possible way to do that. It could be a remaster like X/X-2 HD Remaster or possibly a full remake. This time, it’s our first ever HD Remaster attempt. So I think it has broaden up of what we could choose from. We have to investigate to be sure what our fans are looking for and then we have to take the right decision if we were to do FFVII an another time.
Well then, a Final Fantasy 7 remake could be on the cards. Do you think Square Enix would actually do it? Final Fantasy VII is one of the most loved and critically acclaimed games in the whole Final Fantasy series.
