E3’s Biggest Scare Outlast to be Unleashed on PC this September

Red Barrel, a development team founded by industry veterans, has announced today that it’s darkest brainchild, the survival horror game Outlast, will be available on Steam via digital download on September 4th 2013 and will cost $19.99.

Outlast received a vast amount of praise at E3 this year, picking up many accolades and awards and even earning the honour of ‘Most Likely to Make you Faint’. The immersive audio design and shocking environment that Outlast provides was enough to make many attendees who were playing the game for the first time to struggle to maintain their composure.

The ten-person indie studio of industry veterans, with titles such as Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Uncharted under their belts, have created a game which traps players immersed in a space between fear and curiosity.

In Outlast the player takes over the role of Miles Upshur, a reporter investigating an anonymous tip that something is happening at the Mount Massive Asylum. Players will be stuck in a feeling of derangement this September where the only way to escape may be to faint.
