Games consultancy company The Powell Group have today announced a licensing partnership with IDW Publishing, America’s fourth-largest comics publisher whose most notable titles include Transformers, G.I. JOE, My Little Pony and of course, Judge Dredd. The Powell Group will now serve as the primary liaison to bring IDW’s properties to games across all platforms, including mobile and console.
IDW is recognized as one of the industry’s leading publishers, with numerous best-selling licensed comics, creator-owned titles and art books. In addition to their top licensed comic brands based on movies, games and toys, IDW has built a catalog of hundreds of company-owned titles and characters that lend themselves to games. Powell Group and IDW will work together to bring these titles to phones, tablets and consoles worldwide.
“IDW’s roster of titles and properties is exceptional, and we look forward to helping leverage their strong IP to deliver creative, boundary-pushing games to a global audience,” said Jay Powell, founder and CEO, The Powell Group. “By using these strong licenses, combined with our expansive network of the world’s most talented developers and publishers, we will bring these great stories off the pages of comic books and into the hands of gamers.”
“Jay’s team at The Powell Group has an incredible amount of experience in dealing with major licenses,” said IDW Publishing’s Ted Adams, publisher and CEO. “Their deep understanding of brands combined with exceptional client services makes them an ideal partner for us, and we are excited to be able to work with them to deliver interactive content that not only perfectly meshes with our comics and graphic novels, but can also be cross-promoted within our products.”
Developers and publishers who may be interested in creating games based on IDW Publishing properties are encouraged to contact The Powell Group at their website.
