LOVEFiLM have stated that they will no longer be offering game rentals to either new or existing customers. The statement LOVEFiLM issued said that they want to focus on their strength of “providing the best selection of film and TV content for our customers, and making it available whenever and wherever you want it.”
In an email sent to GameBrit, several details were highlighted on the rental change. This is an immediate change, which started on the 24th of June. New accounts will no longer be given the option for game rentals. Existing customers who wish to change their subscriptions will also no longer be given the option of games-by-post.
However, existing customers who are already on this service can continue to rent games as long as they do not make any changes to their account. This may well change in the future too, but there was no other information provided.
