Activision has confirmed that World of Warcraft has lost 1.3 million subscribers, meaning the active subscriptions are down to only 8 million. Activision say that the subscribers that have been lost are mainly from the East but some are from the West too. 8 Million is still a heck of a lot of players still and still keeps WoW at the top of the MMO ladder.

Warcraft had 12 million players at it’s peak in 2010, so dropping to 8 million is quite a blow to them, it’s no doubt that after Blizzcon this year subscribers will start to swell again.
