MachineGames confirmed with GameSpot today that Wolfenstein: The New Order will not feature a multiplayer mode and will focus soley on the single play aspect.
“It’s such a huge part of video game legacy,” creative director Jens Matthies told GameSpot in a new video preview. “If there’s a video game museum, Wolfenstein is in the first room. It’s the start of the wave that shaped the world of gaming.”
This is surprsing news for a modern FPS game to have no multiplayer, only a very few select games have managed to release a game like this with success. Wolfenstein has quite a multiplayer legacy so it will be interesting to see fan reactions when the game is released.
