Greenheart Games is a small game development company that have just released their first product “Game Dev Tycoon” a game development company simulator. Now as cool as this concept might be Greenheart went one step further in their creativity by creating a seperate version to be put on pirating and file sharing websites which they would upload themselves, but this version had a twist.

At a certain point in the game, a good few hours in so the pirate is hooked into the gameplay, the player starts to recieve the message seen in the image above saying:

“Boss, it seems that while many players play our new game, they steal it by downloading a cracked version rather than buying it legally. If players don’t buy the games they like, we will sooner or later go bankrupt.”

Over time the funds of their virtual company will slowly dwindle as new games their company develop will have a higher chance of getting pirated until finally the company goes bankrupt. This is unavoidable in this pirated version made by Greenheart Games. But here’s where the funny stuff starts to happen…

Many messages like the one above have been thrown around the forums for this game, people complaining that piracy is making it impossible for them to complete their game not realising that the only way this happens is if you pirate the game. Greenheart Gaming have ingeniously held a mirror up to game piraters and shown them the double standards they hold, they will happy pirate a game but are annoyed when piracy affects them.
