TellTale’s next game, based on Bill Willingham’s Vertigo series “Fables”, won’t carry the comics moniker. TellTale’s CEO Dan Connors had this to say to IGN:
“We won’t be using the name Fables. We’re based on the property, but we’ll have a new name. We haven’t announced it yet…We’re still hammering it out. We want to make sure that people know it’s associated with the DC comic and Bill’s work and everything else. It’s delicate. But it won’t be called Fables”
It will be interesting to see how this will be pulled off, at least without annoying longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike.
The ongoing Fables comic series takes place in New York as folklore characters are pushed from their world to ours. After TellTale’s much loved Walking Dead game, it is good to see another comic series get the treatment that isn’t a superhero game. The Vertigo series is aimed at a more mature audience and has gained praise over the years through hugely successful series such as Preacher, DMZ, The Sandman and Transmetropolitan.
