Rayman Legends has once again been delayed, this time until September, which has annoyed fans who already put up with the first delay. Fans originally saw it delayed out of the launch window and into February/March, but this time it has been delayed for a simultaneous release with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions.
Ubisoft Montipellier is developing all three versions and the publishers plan on having a same release-date for all 3 versions. The Wii U version includes significant touchscreen elements, including simultaneous multiplayer between the GamePad and Wii Remote. It will be interesting to see how they put this on the other consoles.
The Rayman Legends Dev team have confirmed the fact that the Wii U version is actually complete and is being held back by the Publishers. “There are no issues with the game development. The only reason for the delay is to release on multiple platforms.”
This delay has caused a huge backlash from fans, both from the delay and the fact that the game is no longer a Wii U exclusive. Some fans have gone as far as to say they would rather never play the game at all now. The publisher has been bombarded by comments regarding the delay on their Facebook page, and some comments are quite rational compared to some of the extreme reactions.
“Ubisoft, this ridiculous choice you’ve made is going to hurt you. A lot. We’ll make sure of that”
“I don’t buy new games as much as I do used games but when I do in the future I will make sure they are not Ubisoft games. Stay strong my friends. Boycott Ubisoft.”
“Who knew so many idiots would get so worked up over something that really wasn’t the company’s fault. You’re blaming the wrong people here'”
There is currently even a petition designed to ‘free Rayman’ which almost has 7500 signatures.
While this may not be great news for fans to hear, at least it is confirmed that the game will be released and hasn’t just been cancelled. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments.
