Dust 514 Merges With EVE Online

CCP Games announced today that on the 22nd of January 2013, the beta for the MMO FPS Dust 514 will go live on the PlayStation 3. The beta is going to be a must have for anyone looking forward for this game but something else that might interest gamers is the amazing feat that the company has been able to accomplish back on the 10th of January.

Dust 514 is combining its universe with that of the EVE Online universe by merging them together on the Tranquility server. By uniting these two games together, CCP has managed to create a single persistent online universe that manages to bridge the gap between PC and console in real time. Furthermore, this is the first time that an FPS and a space combat simulator have been linked together into one immersive universe.

What does this mean for gamers? It means that upon Dust 514’s release, both games will dramatically impact one another in unique ways. What they will exactly do to one another at the moment is unknown but we can expect something monumental to occur such as carpet bombing on a planets surface or destroying soldier convoys on route to planets.

With the potential that these games can bring to the table, CCP has a big order to fill as these massive universes clash later this year. Be sure to check out the beta of Dust 514 on the PlayStation 3 on January 22nd.
