An EA representative has claimed that the links to purchase real guns from the Medal of Honor websites was “inappropriate” and therefore have been removed.
This is a big change for the Medal of Honor site, the series is a big seller for EA and the game franchise has recently announced that it has partnerships with weapons manufacturers. The site, however, still shows all the logos from companies that supply weapons, but they no longer link to the company’s actual websites.
This comes after the recent shootings in America in recent weeks and the National Rifle Associations bizarre blame of this recent gun crime being the result of violent video games with the Vice President of the NRA Wayne LePierre referring to the games industry as “a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells and stows violence against its own people.”
I believe that taking those links down is a good step, however, is it as a sign of respect in mind of recent shootings or is it bowing to recent criticism? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
