GAME UK announces Steam wallet codes now available in-store

After a long wait for UK residents, especially PC gamers, GAME UK has announced it will be stocking Steam’s in-store funding solution for Valve’s digital distribution service.

Available in amounts of £5, £10, £15, and £20 (with an introductory 33% off extra Trade-In value if used against one), the voucher codes can be purchased in-store and then redeemed on Steam for use to purchase games in the store, much like XBOX Live’s points system, but without the hassle of trying to understand the conversion rate. Alongside this announcement, a large number of GAME stores will also be providing in-store tablet devices so customers can browse Steam’s digital library of games. GAME CEO Martyn Gibss was reported by Games Industry International saying:

“We are delighted to be partnering with Steam as we look to grow our PC gaming communities together. The partnership forms a significant part of our increased offering for any PC gamer which will also include a full digital catalogue available on tablets in store to browse and new ways to pay for digital downloads, making the process easier and more secure than ever.”

This, and other news, has been a great turn-around for GAME group. After their recent troubles earlier this year, they seem to be on the rise once more, and extra retail support for the PC market will be most welcome by the gaming community.
