Xbox One UK Weekend Sales Double The 360

The Xbox One launched worldwide on Friday, 22nd November, whereupon it sold a combined total of 1 million units.

Those stats represented a worldwide scale, with figures coming in from the 13 territories in which the console launched.  The UK weekly sales chart has revealed part of the UK’s contribution to that total.

The Xbox One sold 140,000 units in the UK during its launch weekend, which doubles the amount raised in the same period by the Xbox 360 eight years ago – Microsoft’s 2005 UK launch weekend saw 70,000 Xbox 360s sold.

Forza Motorsport 5 is the highest new entry, making it the best-selling exclusive for the console so far. FIFA 14 was put in the top spot due to being bundled with the Xbox One here in the UK.

The Xbox One’s most direct competitor, Sony’s PlayStation 4, launches on Friday, and it will be interesting to see how the console fares in the UK after its US launch earlier this month.
