What always sales? Pizza. This seems to be a perfect equation that Pizza Hut and Microsoft have exploited, with the recent Pizza Hut app for Xbox 360 seeing $1 million sales in just four months. In a recent interview with Polygon, director of PR for Pizza Hut Doug Terfehr explained the details.
“It’s been a source of unbelievable growth for us. Just the explosion of people who wanted to download it, experiment with it, play with it with Kinect. As soon as we did one, everyone was contacting us to do the next [one].” He continues, “When you talk about a sweet spot for the pizza category it’s definitely gamers and gaming. We’re not done in that space.”
The Pizza Hut app permits Xbox 360 gamers to order pizza from their local stores through use of the Kinect.
“If you look at our audience, they love pizza. I mean, who doesn’t? It has international appeal, and Pizza Hut is a recognized brand that matches up well with the Xbox brand.”
Personally I find the diversity currently available to order your fast food needs, through mobile apps, internet and now the kinect to be a fun mix of variety.
