Backers to the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter will be getting an early Christmas gift in the form of a beta. Anyone who funded $55 or more will get access to the beta, with inXile founder Brian Fargo tweeting the release window.

There is no full release date scheduled, but hopefully it should be a few months after the beta begins. Fargo seems optimistic in his team and their abilities, so we may be seeing the sequel to the original 1988 game in the first half of 2014.
