VGU Talks – The Final Straw For Halo 5: Guardians
Don’t get me wrong, I have loved Halo throughout the series. The original trilogy were great to play with solo and with mates, including the online multiplayer. Halo Wars & ODST were great titles that branched off of the main series that added in unique touches and differences. Halo Reach for me was the last good Halo game which brought together the blend of story and multiplayer brilliantly whilst sadly for Halo 4, at least for me, it feel just a little short of the mark.
Now with Halo 5: Guardians, I have been waiting for he game to truly win me over. Waiting for the defining moment that would see the game and the console to me once and for all. Sadly however, 343 Industries revealed to me something that was my final straw. The developers on Halo Waypoint revealed that Halo 5 would not feature split-screen multiplayer, an aspect of the game that has been carried on throughout the series. Their reasoning’s come down to development as well as the inclusion of “Massive scale environments, better visuals and improved AI”.
For me, these reasons are simply not enough to demand the removal of this element of Halo. How can these aspects be compromised by you and your friends playing on split-screen? My full thoughts on the matter are featured in the video above.
