Tropico 5 is to be the first entry in the series to appear on Sony consoles. Until now, the game had only been listed for PC, Mac and Xbox 360 but will now come to the PlayStation 4 later this year.

Multiplayer has also been confirmed for the upcoming game. Up to four players will be able to work as a co-op or competitively, but no further details have yet been given.

The timespan in the game has also been extended, with the addition of Dynasties that allow you to pass your power to your offspring and rule from colonial times up to the modern day.

There has been no talk of a next-gen version coming to the Xbox so far and there is no solid release date as of yet.
