The UK’s Average Gamer is Not What You Would Expect

Are you ready to hear what the average UK gamer is?

Married(or in a relationship), 35 years old and earning £23,000 a year while playing games for and average 2.5 hours per day (in a five day week) totalling on average to around 12 hours of gaming per week.

Not what you expected right?

“The image most people have of a gamer is usually a young boy, holed up for hours in end in their bedroom, only stopping the game for food, drink and toilet breaks. But these results show that the stereotype couldn’t be more wrong. Not only are women just as likely to be gamers as men, but we are talking about fully grown adults who work, have a family and are in a relationship.”

Other facts about the average gamer in the UK include:

  • Three quarters admitted they may never grow out of gaming
  • The average gamer will row with a partner twice a week over gaming
  • One in Twenty admitted that gaming is a constant source for rows to start, 15% saying that it has caused break ups
  • Around half of the gamers will discuss gaming online and look for tips and cheats as well
  • The Wii is the most popular console to own followed by a PlayStation 3 then Xbox 360
  • 44% of gamers will be getting an Xbox One or PlayStation 4
  • Most would  go to a midnight opening for a new game once a year, spending four hours queuing each time
  • Drives a Ford, Vauxhall or BMW
  • Works almost 32 hours a week
