The Creative Assembly Reveals Multiplayer Footage For Rome 2: Total War

A video released by The Creative Assembly today displays the latest information on Rome 2 Total War’s closely kept secret, the multiplayer.

Elliot Lock, a multiplayer designer for The Creative Assembly explains the latest features Rome 2 has included, many of which are drastically different to the previous Total War title, Shogun 2.

These include the creation of a refined, ELO based matchmaking system with ladders that will allow gamers to play on a competitive level over several balanced maps. These go from 1v1 skirmishes to arranged 4v4 teams.

Furthermore the custom match option of the game has increased ten fold to include Land, Sea, Costal, City Assaults, Port Assaults and Ambush attacks. These matches can be played anywhere on Rome 2’s single-player campaign map allowing for an endless mix of battlefields to be used online.

Strategists can now relive battles according to their exact historical locations so if you want to die defending Carthage as Britain or attempt to re correct the Roman failure in teutoburg forest, the game allows you to chase up all these possibilities.

Lock and another guest speaker divulge into a 1v1 siege battle to demonstrate the latest units and combat strategies.

Rome 2 Total War is now set to release on September 3rd, 2013.
